Temporary Residence in Argentina As Academics (Residencia Temporal - Académicos)

Who is it for?

Foreigners who enter the country by virtue of academic agreements entered into between Higher Education institutions in specialized areas, under the responsibility of the contracting Higher Center. This may include researchers, professors, and other specialists working for higher education institutions.

Required Documents:

1.- A valid passport is generally required. However, if you are from a neighboring country, you can simply present a valid identity card or certificate of nationality with a photo.

2.- Argentine criminal record certficate. Incorporated into the RADEX .

3.- Criminal record of the country of origin. The Document has/must be endorsed by the Argentine consular authority or apostilled if the country is part of the Hague Convention. Alternatively, it may be endorsed by the consular authority of the issuing country in Argentina (only valid for Mercosur and associated countries). Required only for foreigners over 16 years of age.

4.- Certificate of address (Certificado de Domicilio) or utility bill under your name.

5.- Stamp of entry to the country on the travel document, if applicable, or digital records of your entry.

Documentation to Present to Apply for Residency as an Academic:

If you are engaged in academic activities under agreements signed between higher education institutions in specialized areas and under the responsibility of the contracting center or institution, you must submit:

  • Contract signed by the parties before a notary public.
  • Note from the body justifying the hiring, signed and certified before a notary public.
  • Employer registration in AFIP.
  • Proof of registration of the contracting party in the Single Registry of Requesters of foreigners of the National Directorate of Migration (DNM Provision No.: 54.618/08).
  • Proof of registration of the employer in the Single Registry of Requirers of foreigners of the National Directorate of Migration. (Provision No. 54618/08).
