FBI Channeling-Related Questions

Format requirement: The original physical cards will need to be mailed to the USA. Scanned copies of the fingerprints cannot be used.

No. The cards just have to have the information filled in on the top of the card along with the signature of the individual who took the prints, who should be an authorized fingerprint technician for authentication purposes. And stamp of the Argentine government, in this scenario, e.g., stamp of Registro Nacional de Reincidencia.

Post-channeling-related questions

In other words, once the FBI background check is completed, is the result issued only as a hard-copy document that must be shipped to the applicant’s U.S. residential address, or can it also be delivered electronically by email?

Answer:

Both versions are acceptable.

The applicant may either receive the hard-copy FBI background check report at their U.S. residential address and then send it to the apostille company by courier or receive the FBI channeling result electronically by email and forward the PDF directly to the apostille company by email for apostille processing.

Chanelers can only mail the results to the applicant’s U.S. residential address. The envelope will be addressed to the applicant only.

If the applicant is physically present in Argentina and unable to receive the delivery personally, a third party or relative may receive it on the applicant’s behalf. Please ensure that the third party or relative is properly authorized to accept the delivery.

Otherwise, try requesting authorization from the apostille company (ACC-000162) to use their address for the apostille process. Once the FBI records are ready, you may provide their address (during data filling) so the government can send the paper version of the FBI records directly to them.

They accept digital FBI records in PDF format for apostille processing.

After the apostille is completed, Apostille notary will download the Apostille results in paper format and ship (DHL/FedEx) the documents to applicant in Buenos Aires.

Important Note: When you apostille documents such as a lease contract or a power of attorney, please make sure that your signature is notarized also. Some countries are new to the apostille process and may not fully understand how to issue it correctly. In some cases, they might simply notarize the document without properly verifying the signature, which can lead to serious consequences.

FAQ

Regarding police clearance certificates, the Immigration Office requires criminal record certificates from all countries where the applicant has resided for more than one year during the last three years.

In such cases, it may be more practical to obtain the criminal record certificate in the country of your current legal residence. The document should then be legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (or the corresponding authority) of the country where it was issued.

If the certificate is not issued in English, it is advisable to arrange an initial translation locally if your language translator is not available at the Colegio de Traductores Públicos de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires: https://www.traductores.org.ar/.

Afterward, a Permiso de Ingreso application can be submitted remotely at the National Directorate of Migration through a power of attorney. Once the application is under review, the Immigration Office should issue intimacion formally requesting consular attestation.

Based on this formal request from the Argentine government, the relevant Argentine consulate should be able to attest the requested document.
