Argentina Citizenship by Investment Services
Pre-Filing Readiness Engagement • Official Program Launch Expected Q4 2026
Argentina’s Minister of Economy said at Argentina Week in Paris that the country’s Citizenship by Investment (CBI) program is expected to open for applications toward the end of 2026.
Interest from international investors is already growing due to the announced USD 350,000 entry route and the strong global mobility offered by an Argentine passport. Although it was previously announced that the initial intake will be capped at 5,000 applications, this figure remains subject to official confirmation. Immigration advisers worldwide are already preparing documents based on other countries’ CBI programs, although Argentina’s final requirements may differ. Having your documentation ready in advance could make a big difference for you once official procedures are finalized. Starting your application early puts you in a better position to move forward when applications open, as it can help you avoid delays and, if a cap is introduced, reduce the risk of missing it (no priority or place in any queue can be guaranteed).
Immi Legal provides advance document preparation services to prospective applicants. We assist you in reviewing, legalizing/apostillating, and translating the documents that are most likely to be required so you are prepared to proceed as soon as the program officially launches.

PRE-FILING READINESS ENGAGEMENT FEES:
Each case is unique and is considered on a case-by-case basis. It is not possible to provide any opinion before we have had the opportunity to comprehensively review the details. However, these fees will be applied as an advance installment towards professional fees for the actual CBI application filing once the program has launched and APCI’s fee structure has been confirmed. Any balance of professional fees payable at the filing stage will depend on the scope and pricing applicable at that time.
Why prepare now? A complete, well-organized file dramatically reduces risk of delays or refusals once the program opens. Early preparation positions clients for the fastest possible submission path with licensed agents.
What Will Be Included in the Pre-Filing Readiness Engagement
A comprehensive, structured preparation service covering every critical element of a future Argentina CBI application.
01 Eligibility Assessment & Investment Option Advisory
We begin with a structured review of the applicant’s full profile—nationality, travel history, business background, family composition, and wealth structure—to identify any complexities or risk factors early and confirm eligibility under the program criteria. At the same time, we prepare a written comparison of the two expected investment routes: the USD 350,000 non-refundable contribution to the National Treasury versus the USD 800,000 sovereign bond (reported as a 7-year, zero-interest bond with principal returned at maturity; final terms pending). The analysis covers financial trade-offs, risk profile, and capital efficiency so the client can make an informed choice. A customized document checklist is then produced, tailored to the applicant’s specific circumstances. Note that the investment modalities remain subject to final confirmation once official regulations are published. The legal eligibility assessment is carried out by a licensed Argentine lawyer after the service agreement is signed; your dedicated coordinator manages documents and communication.
02 Source of Funds Review & Documentation
A complete source of funds file is one of the most closely examined parts of any CBI application, and Argentina’s CBI is no different—every contribution must move through the formal financial system and satisfy anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing, and financial transparency standards aligned with OECD and FATF guidelines. We review the applicant’s wealth profile, identify the cleanest and most documentable funds, and help assemble a clear, well-supported proof of lawful origin using tax returns, corporate records, sale agreements, inheritance papers, bank statements, and other supporting evidence so the file stands up to scrutiny by the UIF and APCI without delays or gaps.
03 Criminal Record Certificates
Guidance and coordination for the procurement of criminal background certificates from every jurisdiction where the applicant (and each included family member) has been a citizen or resident. We advise on requirements, manage follow-up with foreign government agencies, and review certificates for compliance. Note: government fees charged by issuing authorities are not included and are the client’s responsibility.
04 Apostille & Legalization
Any foreign document submitted with the CBI application has to be properly authenticated, i.e. apostille for countries that are members of the Hague Convention or full legalization with consular attestation for non-Hague jurisdictions, for it to be accepted. For every document and country of issuance, we map the exact process, liaise with the appropriate authorities or trusted local partners around the globe, and examine the final authenticated versions to ensure they comply with Argentine standards. The costs of the government apostille and legalization, as charged by the relevant authorities, are the responsibility of the client and are not included in our engagement.
05 Translation Coordination
All documents not originally issued in Spanish must be translated by a sworn public translator (traductor público) registered with the Colegio de Traductores Públicos in Argentina—translations done abroad are not accepted. We identify exactly which documents need translation, whether in physical hard-copy form or, for documents that are e-apostilled (or where a hard-copy apostille is not available), through digital translation. We then coordinate with certified translators in the correct jurisdiction and review the finished set for consistency and accuracy before submission. Translation fees themselves are not included and remain the client’s responsibility.
06 Personal Documentation, Civil Status & Family File Preparation
We collect and review all civil status documents for the principal applicant and every included family member—birth certificates, marriage certificates, divorce decrees, adoption records, and any other papers that establish family relationships—tracking their status with the issuing authorities and ensuring they are current and in acceptable form for APCI review. For applications that include a spouse and/or dependent children, we prepare a dedicated documentation file for each family member covering identity verification, criminal certificates, civil status documents, and the coordination of apostille and translation. Minor children under 18 are expected to be included as a matter of course; unmarried children aged 18–25 may also be eligible, subject to an additional government contribution announced at USD 25,000 per child under 18 and USD 100,000 per unmarried child aged 18–25 without children (final rules pending).
07 Standard Due Diligence
Standard-level due diligence review on the principal applicant (and spouse, where applicable) covering identity verification, PEP and global sanctions screening (OFAC, UN, EU), and an adverse media check—the same core checks used across CBI programs. This screening is completed during the preparation period, well before formal submission, so any issues can be identified and resolved early. Documents are expected to be sent to independent due diligence firms; after their reports are received and reviewed, a decision is made whether to forward the application to the Agency for Citizenship by Investment Programs (APCI). APCI leads the official review together with the State Intelligence Secretariat (SIDE), the Financial Information Unit (UIF), the Ministry of Security, and the Ministry of the Interior, examining identity, lawful origin of funds, assets and finances, jurisdictional risk, criminal and reputational records, and immigration history. The Agency then issues its recommendation to the National Directorate of Migration, which holds final authority to approve or reject each citizenship application.
08 Argentina Tax Advisory
Argentine citizenship obtained through the investment route does not, by itself, create Argentine tax residency—as explicitly established by Article 194 of Law 27.802 (2026). Under the amended Income Tax Law, foreign individuals who obtained Argentine citizenship by investment are not treated as tax residents merely because of that citizenship and are considered foreign nationals for the relevant purposes. The only exception is for those who were already permanent residents of Argentina at the time citizenship is granted—they continue to be treated as tax residents. We also flag any implications under the client’s home-country tax rules so there are no surprises after citizenship is granted.
09 Program Monitoring & Updates
All clients receive ongoing updates throughout the preparation period and until the program launches. This includes a weekly newsletter covering DNU 366/2025, Decree 524/2025, and APCI regulatory developments; APCI announcements and investment migration news; live program updates as regulations are published; and periodic webinars with our team on program status, document preparation, and the path to filing. When the program launches, we notify all clients immediately and provide a clear path forward for the application.
10 After Program Launch File Preparation & Submission Pathway
We prepare and quality-control the complete application file (forms, supporting exhibits, and cover documentation) so it is fully submission-ready. Once official regulations are published and the program opens, we coordinate the pathway to formal submission via our network of registered/licensed agents in Argentina once APCI publishes its agent-certification criteria and, where applicable, engage or liaise with local licensed lawyers to assist in final packaging and filing.
11 Post-Submission Case Management & Document Delivery
After submission, we provide ongoing case management: continuous liaison with APCI and the relevant government authorities, proactive follow-up on any additional documentation requests, regular status updates, and use of reasonable endeavors to obtain progress information from the authorities. Upon issuance, we coordinate the receipt of citizenship certificates, passports, and any related cards or permits and arrange secure forwarding to the designated party.
12 File Completeness & Professional Standards
Prior to any further engagement or submission steps, we conduct a completeness and accuracy review of the information and documents provided. Incomplete, inconsistent, or insufficient documentation will be flagged early so issues can be resolved before significant time or cost is incurred. We reserve the right not to proceed if the file remains incomplete or if due diligence outcomes are unsatisfactory. Throughout the engagement, we apply reasonable skill and care, work in a timely and professional manner consistent with industry standards, and comply with applicable regulatory requirements.
Government fees, required contributions or investments, apostille/legalization costs, translation fees, passport fees, and any enhanced due diligence costs remain the client’s responsibility and are not included in this engagement. This service does not include legal, tax, real-estate, or regulatory advice outside the scope of the Argentina CBI preparation and application process described above.
How the Engagement Works
- Onboarding. Your dedicated coordinator registers your case and clarifies your country, citizenship, family situation, and goals. This stage is an onboarding registration, not a legal assessment.
- Agreement and plan. You receive the service agreement, your case plan, your coordinator’s contact details, and the next steps.
- Document collection. Your coordinator sends your personalised document list, checks completeness, reminds you of deadlines, and uploads your documents to your case file.
- Legal assessment. A licensed Argentine lawyer evaluates the case, identifies risks and defines the strategy.
- Filing readiness. Your file is quality-checked so that it is ready to submit once the program opens and the official channel is confirmed.
Who does what: your coordinator handles documents, deadlines, status updates, and administrative questions; legal questions are passed to the lawyer through your coordinator. You always know who is working on your case, what is happening now, and what comes next.
Core Document Categories to Prepare
While the program is not yet open, these are the document categories that form the foundation of every strong application.
- Identity & Civil Status Documents
- Valid passport(s) — certified color copies of all pages (ideally ≥ 6–12 months remaining validity)
- National ID card(s), driver’s license, internal passport(s), PR card (certified color copies)
- Apostilled full birth certificates (all family members)
- Marriage certificate(s) / Divorce decree(s) / Death certificate of deceased spouse (if applicable)
- Name-change documents / Deed Poll (if any name differs across documents)
- Proof of residential address (recent utility bill or lease; affidavit if not in applicant’s name)
- Criminal Record / Background Certificates
- Police Clearance Certificate / FBI report from country of origin
- Police certificate from every country of residence
- PEP / sanctions screening (OFAC, UN, EU) and adverse media check
- Source of Funds / Source of Wealth (Most Critical)
The main applicant or benefactor must demonstrate the lawful origin of the investment capital and overall wealth.
- Source of Wealth Declaration Form
- Bank statements for the main applicant
- Corporate records for all declared business affiliations
- Supporting documentation (property sale agreements, employment letters, payslips, investment statements, dividend evidence, etc.)
- Current net worth declaration
Important: Requirements may change when final APCI rules are issued. All foreign documents generally need apostille (or legalization) + sworn Spanish translation by an Argentine-certified translator.
Your personalised checklist is issued after onboarding and legal assessment.
Why Prepare for Argentina’s CBI Program in Advance?
For high-net-worth applicants, the preparation stage can be almost as important as the filing stage.
Complex source-of-wealth cases can require documents from several countries and may involve property transactions, corporate structures, investment accounts, international transfers or multiple sources of income.
Waiting until applications formally open may create unnecessary pressure.
Early preparation can allow applicants to:
- Review their eligibility.
- Identify potential due-diligence issues.
- Map their source of wealth.
- Establish the source of investment funds.
- Identify missing civil-status documents.
- Order criminal-record certificates.
- Obtain apostilles and legalizations.
- Prepare certified Spanish translations.
- Organize corporate and financial records.
- Resolve inconsistencies between documents.
- Prepare a comprehensive application file before the program becomes operational.
The supplied CBI preparation materials similarly recommend beginning documentation and preliminary compliance checks in advance, while noting that the final APCI rules may change the requirements.

FAQs – Pre-Filing Readiness Engagement
The government has announced the US$350,000 route but has not yet issued the implementing rules, timelines, or any list of restricted nationalities, and a reported cap of around 5,000 applications has not been confirmed. Starting early means you submit when the program opens instead of beginning then. Most files take 4–8 weeks, especially when documents need apostilles and sworn translations; discovering issues (name mismatches, long-lead criminal records, complex source-of-funds documentation) now is far better than discovering them later.
A review of your profile, a source-of-funds file, criminal-record certificates, apostille and translation coordination, family documents, standard due-diligence screening, and case management (see the 12 components above).
Start with your passport and civil-status documents, and the records showing how your funds were earned (bank statements, tax records, and corporate and sale documents). Do not order time-sensitive certificates or translations before you receive your personalized checklist.
We combine a dedicated coordinator who manages your file day to day with licensed Argentine lawyers for legal assessment, and we keep you informed with status updates.
By taking action now, you can complete initial due diligence checks, assemble required records, and resolve potential hurdles well before the official portal opens. This ensures your file is first in line when applications go live.
