If you have held Temporary Residency for a period of at least one (1) year, you may be eligible to apply for Permanent Residency under an accelerated pathway, subject to your personal circumstances.
According to Article 79 of Law No. 21,325 and Article 66 of its Regulations, the minimum residency period required to apply for Permanent Residency may be reduced to 12 months when one or more of the following conditions are met:
Family ties with Chilean citizens or holders of Permanent Residency
Demonstrated availability of stable income or pensions
Investments made and/or companies with effective operations in Chile
Proven contribution to the social, cultural, artistic, scientific, or sporting fields
Permanent residents can apply for Chilean citizenship once eligible.
Citizenship Eligibility Requirements:
I. Minimum residency period: Applicants must have held Permanent Residency for at least five (5) years. This requirement is reduced to two (2) years for individuals who are married to a Chilean citizen or who have Chilean children.
II. Applicants must be 18 years of age or older at the time of application.
III. A clean criminal record is required, both in Chile and in the applicant’s country of origin, demonstrating good conduct.
IV.Applicants must demonstrate stable and lawful means of income, ensuring they are able to support themselves and any dependents without reliance on public assistance.
V. Language and Cultural Integration: Applicants must show basic proficiency in the Spanish language and adequate integration into Chilean society, which may be assessed through documentation, interviews, or official evaluations.
