Instant Argentine DNI and Instant Passport
Suppose you have already acquired Argentine nationality or are an Argentine citizen by birth, and your Argentine passport has expired, or you need to renew your Argentine passport. In such situations, this article explains how and where to obtain/renew your Instant Argentine DNI & Passport quickly.

Who Can Use This Service?
1 )This service is for Argentine Nationals with a valid DNI or previously obtained passport and traveling abroad with an Argentine passport.
2 ) If you travel to a MERCOSUR country, you can use your Argentine DNI (national ID) instead of a passport. Note: There are two types of Argentinian national ID cards (DNI). One is for Argentinian nationals, which says “Argentino” on the card. The other is for foreigners, and it is clearly marked as “Extranjero”.
Therefore, if your DNI says “Extranjero” (even with permanent residency), you cannot use it to travel within Mercosur. You must either use your foreign passport or first obtain Argentine nationality, and travel with a DNI that says “Argentino” on the card.

Instant Argentine Passport: Requirements and Eligibility
Required Documents
To obtain an instant Argentine passport, you must provide a Valid national ID (DNI) with permanent residency and “Argentino” (nationality) written on the card.
Who Is Eligible?
a) Naturalized Argentinians who are renewing their passports and already have a national ID.
b) Children born in Argentina who need an instant passport.
c) Argentinians traveling abroad whose passports have expired or run out of visa pages.
Where Can You Renew Your Passport?
That said, eligible individuals can renew their passports in just 15 minutes at designated airports before returning to their country of current residence. Please note that you must first obtain a DNI, and then a passport, not vice versa.
New Citizens Must Obtain a DNI Before Applying for an Argentine Passport
According to the regulations for obtaining an Argentine passport, once your Argentine citizenship is approved, you must first obtain a permanent DNI (Documento Nacional de Identidad) that shows your nationality as ‘Argentino’. Only after obtaining this DNI can you apply for an Argentine passport. Therefore, the instant passport service is not available to individuals who have just had their citizenship approved by the Federal Civil Court and have not yet received their DNI yet.
What Documents You Must Provide
For Adults (18 and over)
1 ) You must provide a valid national ID. In other words, your DNI is essential. Optionally, bringing your old passport may speed up the process.
2 ) Additionally, it is helpful to bring your old passport, though it is not mandatory.
For Minors (Under 18)
1) A valid national ID.
2) Original or certified copy of the birth certificate.
3) A parent or legal guardian must go with you and present their own identification documents. Other documents may be required if your parents cannot come with you.
The Instant DNI Services
The instant DNI (DNI exprés) is only for native or naturalised Argentinians and can be obtained through the ‘Mi Argentina’ app with a prior appointment. It is issued on the same day at Renaper, and you must have your previous DNI or a report of loss or theft. Because, during taking an online appointment, the system will ask your DNI and CUIL number, which is assumed to have of people who already has DNI previously. With said that, the DNI number and CUIL number may have foreigners as well, not only for Argentinians.
The express DNI is for foreigners with valid permanent or temporary residence, and within 48/96 working hours of completing the process, the post office will deliver the DNI to the declared address.
Instant DNI Eligibility
The instant DNI service is available only to individuals who already have a previously issued DNI. If you are applying for a DNI for the first time, a different procedure applies, and it cannot be processed through the instant or immediate service.
For example, if you have recently obtained Argentine citizenship (Carta de Ciudadanía), you must apply for your DNI under the first-time DNI issuance process, which does not qualify for instant processing. The same applies to newborns born in Argentina or individuals who acquire Argentine citizenship by descent. In all of these cases, the processing timeline is longer and follows the standard first-time DNI procedure rather than the expedited service.

How to Enter Argentina If Your Argentine Passport Is Expired After 10 years
To return to Argentina, after living abroad, it is necessary to distinguish whether or not the country where you were residing has an agreement with Argentina. In case it does, as is the case of Panama, the requirements to return to the country with an expired passport are the following:
a) PASSPORT: A provisional or emergency passport can be requested at the consulate of the country where the Argentinean is, since the passport must be up to date at the time of entry to the country.
b) DOCUMENTATION:
i. criminal record certificate issued by Argentina or Panama that is not older than 3 years;
ii. certificates, degrees obtained, and all legalized and apostilled academic documentation (in case of having them)
iii. If the residence in Panama was longer than 2 years, you can enter with a car and other goods. In this case, you must fill in form OM 2087/G3
The Required Steps Are as Follows:
1. Request a new passport at the Argentine Consulate in Panama:
If the applicant does not have an urgent matter, you can apply for a passport renewal at the Argentine Consulate in Panama. To do this, you must:
a. Ask for an appointment at the consulate;
b. Present your Argentine DNI;
c. Pay the corresponding fee;
d. Wait for the issuance of the new passport (it may take a few weeks).
2. Apply for a Travel Certificate at the Argentine Consulate:
In urgent situations when you cannot renew your passport, you may apply for a Travel Certificate. This emergency document permits you to enter Argentina. Most importantly, it is obtained at the Argentine Consulate in Panama and issued quickly, though it is valid only for returning to Argentina.
Why is The FORM OM 2087/G3 For?
FORM OM 2087/G3 is an official form of the National Direction of Migration of Argentina, used for procedures related to the entry and exit of the country with irregular or expired documentation, typically in exceptional cases. In practice, the form is applied when an Argentine citizen re-enters the country with an expired passport, without a passport, or without a DNI, and their immigration status must be regularized upon entry.
This form is specifically used to:
i. Allow the entry into the country of Argentine citizens who do not have valid documentation.
ii. Register the exceptional entry with an expired passport or with a Travel Certificate.
Iii. To record the reason for not having valid documentation.
This form is generally completed by Migration staff at the point of entry (whether Ezeiza, Aeroparque, border crossings, etc.) when an irregular migratory situation is detected. Alternatively, in some cases, it can be requested in advance at an Argentine consulate if someone wishes to return to the country with an expired document.
