Argentina Visa for Indian Citizens: Visa-Free Entry with U.S. Visa

The Government of Argentina has announced a major update regarding the Argentina visa for Indian citizens. Through Resolution 353/2025, published in the Official Gazette, Indian nationals holding ordinary passports will now be allowed to enter Argentina without an Argentine visa, provided they hold a valid U.S. visa and their stay is for tourism purposes up to 90 days.

This new measure is designed to promote Argentine tourism. The Argentine Government highlighted tourism as a “non-traditional resource-generating activity” that plays a strategic role in the country’s economy.

Key Conditions for Indian Citizens Visiting Argentina

According to the regulation:

– The Argentina visa for Indian citizens exemption applies only if the traveller has a valid and current U.S. visa of a similar immigration category.

– The stay must be temporary and limited to tourism for up to 90 days.

– Beneficiaries cannot change their immigration status in Argentina.

– An extension of stay may be granted once for a similar period, after evaluation by the National Directorate of Immigration.

– Indian citizens who do not have a valid and current U.S. visa must still apply through the regular consular visa process.

– If you are seeking long-term residency or citizenship, you must enter Argentina with the appropriate/same category visa, not a tourist visa. For example, if you want to study in Argentina, you need to enter as a student, not as a tourist.

Strengthening India–Argentina Tourism Ties

This update on the Argentina visa for Indian citizens follows bilateral agreements between India and Argentina to boost tourism and strengthen cooperation. The Government emphasised that tourism is a strategic and essential sector for national development and highlighted the importance of simplifying travel for Indian visitors.

The regulation also noted that the measure is aligned with U.S. visa verification standards, allowing Argentina to relax entry requirements for Indian travellers who already meet American immigration requirements.

What This Means for Indian Travellers

For Indian citizens planning to visit Argentina, this new visa exemption significantly simplifies the travel process. Instead of applying separately for an Argentina visa, those holding a valid U.S. visa can now enjoy visa-free entry for up to 90 days as tourists.

This step is expected to make Argentina a more attractive destination for Indian tourists, business leaders, and cultural travellers.
